Ignoring the voices of Auckland concerns Young Labour

The National-led Government’s blatant indifference to the voices of concerned Aucklanders simply solidifies a pattern of behaviour that should be a serious concern for all New Zealanders, says Young Labour.

Young Labour Auckland Representatives Bronwyn Presland and Jason Cox have voiced their concern that the National-led Government is continuing to ignore the voices of the community and rushing their proposed Auckland Super City legislation through Parliament.

Wealth Of Experience For Mt Albert

Young Labour welcomes the selection of David Shearer as the Labour candidate for the Mt Albert by-election.

Young Labour Vice President, Caitlin Merriman said “Mr Shearer brings many years of experience leading humanitarian operations for the United Nations as well as years of service to NGOs and the New Zealand Government. He has been on the front lines making a huge difference to the lives of many people.

Young Labour recommends that Smith be isolated indefinitely

Young Labour members around the country were today alarmed to hear of the serious affliction befalling the Environment Minister, Hon. Dr Nick Smith.

Young Labour President, Patrick Leyland said: “Given the uncertain nature of his illness and the very real risk of swine flu, we implore Dr. Smith to have the interests of our country at heart, and stay isolated in the wilderness for an indefinite period of time.”

"We had always been suspicious that Dr Smith could be contagious and congratulate John Key on protecting all New Zealanders by isolating him"

Entrenchment of Maori Seats a positive move: Young Labour

Young Labour supports the announcement today of Labour MP Mita Ririnui's private member’s bill to entrench the Maori seats in parliament and ensure that Maori representation can not be removed by a simple majority of the House.

Young Labour Maori Vice President, Anaru Warren said:

“We believe that a truly mana enhancing parliament is one that recognises that Maori have a unique role in Aotearoa as tangata whenua.”
