No Youth Rates!

Young Labour is running a campaign against youth rates. It’s a photo petition in which we’re asking people to send us pictures of themselves with sign showing that they do not support Youth Rates. Our plan is to collect all the submissions and present them to Parliament and John Key on behalf of those who are against youth rates. You can post them on our Facebook wall or email them to us.

The reasons why we are doing this are simple: Firstly, Youth rates create in-work poverty for young people. Secondly, They are unfair and discriminates against us – we deserve equal days pay for equal days work. Thirdly, there is no evidence that suggests that youth rates create jobs. Fourthly and finally, despite what the National party says – if we want a high skilled, high waged economy, we need to invest in young people – not discriminate against them.

Instead of stripping our rights Labour will increase the minimum wage to fifteen dollars and will invest in the future of our young people. Don’t forget to post your photo online or send us an email. You can also “Like” the No Youth Rates Facebook page at facebook.com/noyouthrates.
