2016 is the centenary of our Party and we will be kicking off the year with a forward-focused approach discussing where the next 100 years will take us. We need to prepare for the future in an ever-changing world. This means we need to address what will campaigns look like, and what are problems our generation will need the answers to solve.
The theme for Summer School 2016 is Labour for the Future. This is a chance for us to collaborate, think and hear from our own MPs, community leaders, and experts on what the future holds for us and how Labour fits in with this.
This event is open to all Labour Party Members and Affiliates. Come along and be a part of the conversation on where we go as a party.
Where: Karanga Camp, Swanson, Auckland
When: 3:00pm Friday 22 January – 2:00pm Sunday 24 January
Cost: $100 Unwaged, $150 Waged
Summer School is a unique opportunity for all party members to spend a weekend in the sun focusing on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for Labour and New Zealand. Labour Summer School has become a Labour Party institution as an agenda setting conversation between activists, MPs, Young Labour, community organisers and external experts.
After a bruising election campaign and a leadership election, this is chance for the party to think about how we rebuild to win back government in 2017.
Talks this year will discuss issues ranging from universal access to education – to views on Labour’s last election campaign from a key party strategist, and lots in between.
This event is for every Labour member and affiliate. However traditionally a large number of Young Labour members attend. It’s a chance for party members of all ages and from all over the country to talk about the things that are important to them. It’s for you.
This January, the theme will be ‘Beyond 25%’ – where do we go from here, and how do we build a strong Labour Party that can deliver a better future?
